How to get there - International Flight to Buenos Aires, Domestic Flight from Buenos Aires to Salta

After years of careful planning and construction,
Salta’s Finest Lodge is complete!

Inside Estancia Chacu Hunting LodgeMost passionate dove hunters are familiar with the high volume dove shooting in Cordoba, but few know about Salta Argentina. Salta is in the northwest corner of Argentina in the Lerma valley in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Salta is a semi-arid region, but is an agricultural hotspot because of its mild climate, river and stream system and most importantly its very fertile soil. The Anta valley is where the hunting take place, in this area soybean, corn, peanuts and wheat are grown. Because of these conditions no-till farming takes place and crops are planted and harvested year round. Of course where there is agriculture in Argentina there are birds, and millions of them.

In the Salta area there are an estimated 100 Million dove. This impressive population of dove exceeds its rival Cordoba Argentina by at least factor of three. These staggering volumes of birds, coupled with the lack of hunting pressure like Corboba receives guarantee no stop dove shooting action.Dove Hunting at Estancia Chacu Lodge

Estancia Chacu also offers Pigeon hunting running May through September. While there are moderate volumes of pigeon in the area year round, it is our experience that the best hunting occurs in the Winter months of Salta.

Another bonus in Salta is the renowned Golden Dorado! Few lodges can offer high volume dove hunting, pigeon hunting AND Dorado fishing from the same lodge. Fishing in Salta is much like our Trout and Smallmouth Bass fishing at home. There are 3 main fishing areas that are fished, which are the Del Valle, Dorado and the Juramento Rivers.

In the Del Valle and Dorado rivers you will wade into the temperate mountain waters in search of the elusive Dorado. This area presents the most difficult challenge, and the greatest rewards, as the Dorado in this river run between 4 and 6 pounds. Fishing in the Del Valle is recommended only for the more experienced fly fisherman.

The Juramento is wider and deeper, and the fishing is done in a boat or on the river banks. It is easy to use both spinning rigs and fly rods in the Juramento, and because the Dorado are very plentiful in this river your chance of success is high. The Dorado in this area run generally between 12-15 pounds, and if you are lucky you may catch one of the 40 pound monsters that have been known to frequent the Juramento!

Estancia Chacu Hunting LodgeIn Early March 2008, Estancia Chacu (meaning “hunting place” in Inca language) began accepting eager clients from the America’s and Europe. Outfitter Floro Lavalle spared no expense and meticulously planning every detail of the 20,000 square foot lodge. Estancia Chacu rests on a scenic hillside on over 12,000 private acres. It offers 9 bedrooms, pleasant softly lit dining areas, welcoming cocktail areas, shaded patios and outdoor fountains. The architecture and décor rings of old Style European design, but with the modern conveniences like telephone, internet access, cellular service all modern amenities you would be accustomed to at home.

Before dinner after a hard day of shooting and/or fishing you will relax in luxury of the lodge. You will be served fine Argentinean wines, ice cold Cerveza, or non-alcoholic beverages of your choice in preparation of fine authentic Argentinean cuisine, prepared by a master chef trained in Argentina and Europe. I encourage my clients to spend an extra day in the city of Salta touring the historical sites like Jesuit, Dominican and Franciscan. In addition I suggest that you tour the locaDove Hunting at Estancia Chacu Hunting Lodgel wineries and get a flavor for the unique culture in this area. You will quickly see why Salta is commonly referred to “Salta the beautiful”.

The Salta province is one of the best kept wing shooting secrets in the world. With its central location in South America it has been named the Dove Hunting Mecca of the world. With drives to the fields no more than 30 minutes and in most cases less than 10, you will quickly be on the birds. Let us be your proud host and see what our new lodge and the beautiful province of Salta have to offer.
